Description
Consigned original wood carved Lega passport mask from Democratic Republic of Congo. Aged traditional reflective white clay patina. These special passport masks were found in the rainforest region of the Bwami or Lega. They are symbols of the owner”s rank within the society and represent moral or social values. They are traditionally used during initiation rites and conjunction with dance, poetry, and song, giving wisdom to members of the society.
